The 2012-2013 Sherman E. Burroughs Band & Colorguard

Band highlights include the 2012 2nd place band @Barstow's field tournament and 1st at the Ridgeview High School HOWL in Bakersfield and 1st place at Apple Valley's competition. In 2009 we did the UCLA High School Band Day @the Rose Bowl and hopefully get to do that again. This year USC hosted a similar event we also hope to do again next year. Our 2012 Spring Concert featured special guest Nathan Watts, Stevie Wonder's Musical Director.
Six of our members won seats in the November 21 - 24, 2008 WIBC Honor Band/Clinic in Seattle, Washington: Jacob Dent, Keith DeRuiter, Alicia Freeman, Garrett McDonald, David Smith and Kayla Vaughn. In 2009, Jacob & Kayla plus Sarah Askew represented us in WIBC honor bands. January 2009, 3 of our members performed with the honor band in the Tournament of Roses Parade. and the 2009,CSULA First Chair Honor Band: Askew, Freeman and Johnson. This year, freshman horn player, Andrew Christison represented us again in the Rose Parade.

When we're home, we love to play in our community (home football games and parades) as well as host the February SCSBOA Solo/Ensemble Festival and the April 10 Band Extravaganza including BHS, Monroe and Murray bands in the gym. We are fortunate to share the joy of music.

Assignments are online for BHS Band members via Smartmusic (software). Students who don't have it at home can use it at school in the bandroom office. See me for appointments.
